Error Codes Help

Error Codes: GreyHen implements some error codes to help both you and us figure out what went wrong, when things do go wrong. The first two digits represent the page that the error occurred on, and the second two represent the type of error that occurred.

Upload Page - 1100

When uploading a file from your computer, the file could not be transferred from the upload header to its temporary holding place on the server. This error is indicative of network issues, either on your end or with the server. If you receive an 1101, try uploading the file(s) in question again, and if that doesn't work, wait for a few minutes to an hour before trying again.

When uploading a file via URL, the file could not be transferred from the link provided to its temporary holding place on the server. Although it is possible for this error to be caused by network problems or connectivity issues as with an 1101, an 1102 almost always means that there was a problem with the link you provided. Try copying the link again, or going to the link yourself to make sure that it exists. If all else fails, try saving the file you're attempting to upload on your own computer, then uploading it directly from your computer to GreyHen.

When uploading a file, you have attempted to upload a file which is larger than allowed. The maximum filesize allowed is 10MiB, and the maximum pixel count allowed is 50MPx (animated images only count the first frame).

When uploading a file, you have attempted to upload a file which is of an unsupported filetype, has no filetype, or could not have its MIME read. This is usually a problem with the URL in question - try downloading the file to your computer, then uploading it directly to GreyHen.

When uploading a file, you have attempted to upload a file which is already waiting to be checked in by a moderator.

When uploading a file, you have attempted to upload a file which already exists in the main database.

When uploading a file, the database was unable to copy the file from its temporary position to its position in the pending queue. This is a problem with the server - try uploading the file again, and if that fails, wait for an hour or so, then try again.

When uploading a file, you have not specified any files to upload.

When uploading a file, the page could not asynchronously contact the server. This is usually indicative of a network issue - either your computer can no longer access the internet, or the server is suffering downtime. Check that your computer can access other pages on GreyHen - if it can, wait for a few minutes to an hour before trying again.

When uploading a file, you have attempted to upload a file which is too small. GreyHen imposes a lower limit of 10KPx (100x100, 500x20, etc) on uploaded files.

When uploading a file via URL, the server has detected that the file may have been "blown up" to a larger size, making the image look pixellated. Try finding the properly-sized version on another website - if the image is already the correct size, save it to your computer, then upload it directly to GreyHen.

Home Page - 1200

When creating a user, you have entered an invalid username. Usernames must be 1-32 characters, inclusive, and not use the < > " or & characters.

When creating a user, you have entered a username which is already taken. Choose a different username.

When logging in, you have entered a username which doesn't exist. Enter a username which does exist.

When logging in, you have entered the wrong password. Enter the correct password.

When creating or logging in a user, the secure hash has not reached the server intact. This error is indicative of connection or server problems - check your internet connection, then wait a few minutes to an hour to see whether the problem has been resolved.

Voting - 1300

When casting a vote, you were not logged in, or otherwise did not have the necessary permissions. To cast a vote, log in with an existing account or create a new account.

When casting a vote, you have not specified any tags to be voted on. Enter at least one valid tag name before casting a vote.

When casting a vote, the system could not identify which file you were attempting to vote on. While this error can be caused by network issues, it is almost always the result of attempting to tamper with the asynchronous call pages. So stop doing that.

When casting a vote, the page was unable to asynchronously contact the server. This is usually indicative of a network issue - either your computer can no longer access the internet, or the server is suffering downtime. Check that your computer can access other pages on GreyHen - if it can, wait for a few minutes to an hour before trying again.

When casting a numerical vote, the system did not receive a number to associate with your vote. While technically possible with network issues, this is almost always a sign that you're attempting to tamper with the system. Please don't.

Filters - 1400

When performing a filter function, the page was unable to asynchronously contact the server. This is usually indicative of a network issue - either your computer can no longer access the internet, or the server is suffering downtime. Check that your computer can access other pages on GreyHen - if it can, wait for a few minutes to an hour before trying again.

When adding a filter, you've neglected to fill out either of the filtering fields.

When adding a filter, you've attempted to add a filter for a tag which doesn't exist. If you believe this tag should exist, you can vote for it on appropriate files; otherwise, the filter would provide no benefit, since it would have no data to work with.
